David McElhanney
Board Chair

Dave is the Board Chair for the Calgary Affordable Housing Foundation (CAHF)and is Principal of MBE Ventures Inc., an independent consulting practice focused on Infrastructure Development and Capital projects.

Previously he held senior management and technical roles in western Canada with engineering consultant McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. and business consultant RLG International.

 Dave previously served as Board Chair with Accessible Housing in Calgary and as Co-Chair of theExecutive of the Institute for Corporate Director’s Calgary Chapter. He is also a past director and Interim CFO for three public companies, past Independent Director for the Tsuut’ina Nation Procurement Board and for an Alberta Charter School and was Committee Chair for the Calgary Chamber of Commerce’s

Indigenous Opportunities Committee and Board Chair for a private engineering company.

 Dave holds degrees in Civil Engineering from McMaster University (1985) and an MBA from the Richard Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario (1998), he holds the ICD.D designation through the Institute of Corporate Directors and has expertise in Corporate Governance, Transportation Planning and Construction, Leadership and Management, Finance and Strategic Planning and Implementation.

 Beginning with the RESOLVE Capital Campaign in 2012, Dave has actively supported the generation of capital funding for affordable housing projects in Calgary.  Giving back to community in this manner is something he has done throughout his working life. CAHF is a legacy of RESOLVE and continues the engagement of the philanthropic community to be a contributor to the funding stack being invested in new affordable projects that will begin to address the housing crisis in the city.
